The Stock Range
Currently our individual badges range is over the 350 mark. We are regularly seeking good original badges in order to increase the stock range. As much as possible we try to respond to market needs, with new badges being regularly added to the range.
A recent addition is a range of vintage Moto Guzzi badges along with a small range of Ducati badges.
We plan to add badges for rare makes such as Gemini, Bridgestone and Lilac, while extending the range to other European marques such as Moto Morini and Vespa.
Original Badges - Background
Virtually all vintage motorcycle badges were made from either anodised alloy or plastic, with some made of pressed steel. These of course are light and relatively cheap to manufacture, but are not ideal for several reasons. First, being quite soft they are easily damaged. Second, the anodising (especially gold) of alloy badges fades and loses colour with exposure to UV. Third, the plating and paint applied to plastic badges tends to deteriorate after several years.
Replica badges - metal and plastic types
Badge Replicas metal badges are made from a special casting metal alloy, harder than aluminium or plastic but still slightly flexible. These are chrome- or gold-plated, and then painted with automotive enamels.
We now have a fast-growing range of injection moulded plastic tank badges. After the clear plastic blanks are produced they are gold or chrome metallised, and painted accordingly. We also supply several badge types in a polymer stick-on type, a cheaper alternative but still a very acceptable replica.
New Old Stock (NOS) Badges
We are able to supply only limited stock of NOS badges. This will vary over time, but we will endeavour to indicate the availability of NOS badges on the badges lists (see menu to left of the page). Look for 'NOS only', or 'NOS also' on specific badge listings. Please email us with your requirements.
